This December we are really excited to bring you our last party of the decade! Again, we'll deliver you one of the finest underground techno nights in the UK - expect an awesome range of quality techno, an intimate and inclusive raving space and a friendly and up-for-it crowd. This month featuring (alongside three of our residents, fresh from dates in Europe and around the UK), what will be a stunning live set from across the Pennines, and a UK debut from one of our favourite DJs we've found recently.
Our last few parties have been lots of fun, and this year's been a brilliant one for us – booking people we love from the local area and both the wider UK and internationally, building a great following of lovely people, being featured in print in DJ Mag, and our residents picking up bookings in the UK and abroad. We’re still all about the tiny rave cave, the family ethos and the banging tunes.
Also - You might have noticed it’s getting really damn chilly at the moment - so imagine what it’s like sleeping rough in this weather. So, if you bring a carrier bag (or larger!) with warm clothes, sleeping bags, or anything else from the list below to our next party on the 6th December we’ll donate it to ShareShop Chester, helping refugees and the homeless, and you’ll get half-price tickets for our next party in Feb (with the mighty Jerome Hill)
"Sleeping bags, camping mats, rucksacks, warm coats, socks and underwear, fleeces, general warm clothing, hats and gloves would be much appreciated."
[ Harder - Bucharest / Sofia ]
We are very excited to bring Bunny (aka Patrik Heijenrath) over for a UK debut. We ran into his party Harder (https://www.instagram.com/harderparty/) whilst clocking fellow queer and lgbtq-friendly techno parties around Europe and the world, and quickly made a solid connection based on a mutual love of hooning techno and the transformative potential of a quality crowd on an inclusive dancefloor.
Currently based in Bucharest, by way of the Netherlands and Berlin - Bunny has been throwing parties in both Bucharest and recently Sofia, Bulgaria - carving out a niche providing techno of the hardest and most intense variety to crowds of open-minded people of whatever background. Harder is currently working with crews and DJs from around Europe (parties coming up also feature the awesome Gegen collective from Berlin) to curate next-level nights.
Catch a little about what the night's about in the following Vice Magazine interview: (it's a google-translated page, so any mistakes are those tech bros' fault)
ISIS MORAY - live set
[ Sunk Records - Sheffield ]
We are really psyched to welcome Isis from Sheffield to the rave cave - to deliver what we know will be an outstanding set of live electronica.
Isis Moray is the solo project of artist and musician Jade Lauren.
Utilising various hardware boxes and vocal processors, she creates a hypnotising blend of electronic melodies, ranging from deep, dark ambience, to more hard and rugged techno.
[ Nexus / Techno.fm ]
Disco-infused warehouse rave. Occasional drum machine and synth hybrid set stuff. You might hear: fast as anything brutality / wonky stuff / 90s wobblers / vogue samples / acid lines / big kicks. You won't hear: Drumcode / Ibiza techno.
Along with Loss Function - they've been bringing their individual brand of dancefloor punishers to nights across the UK and Europe - including a Berlin debut in November.
[ Nexus / Techno.fm ]
Nexus and Techno.fm resident Loss Function's techno sets defy categorisation. With influences drawn from a couple of decades raving across the UK and Europe - he plays rave-influenced techno from the harder end of the spectrum, but making sure the groove stays high.He's been holding down hugely well-received regular sets at Nexus and on Nexus radio over the last couple of years, and with guestmixes, DJ gigs and festival slots across the UK and abroad over the past year and upcoming - his signature style is deservedly getting a wider airing.
SH13 [ Nexus / wAliens / FNOOB ]
The dark techno / industrial pseudonym of Sted Hellvis (dirty warehouse / squat techno); equally tough in outlook and attitude, SH13 is the outlet for the mayhem pitching in around 135-140bpm.
SH13’s sets focus on an industrial edge, with monstrous kick drums, twisted distortion and dirty sonics. Sometimes described as brutal, it’s hard edged without a doubt but doesn’t lose the focus of the dancefloor.
NEXUS HOUSE RULES:
* Be excellent to each other:
We’re very happy that you’ve chosen to rave with us: look after yourself and each other. If you or someone needs help see a party organiser, text us (number available on the night) or find a member of the venue staff. “Ask for Angela” if you need immediate assistance or someone is making you feel uncomfortable.
* Everyone is welcome:
Nexus is an inclusive night - and everyone should be able to party with us and feel comfortable, regardless of age, gender identification, sexuality, ethnicity, style or any other trait. If you feel like you are being made to feel unwelcome, or you witness behaviour that is discriminatory, please let a member of the venue staff or the party promoters know.
* No photos / video on the dancefloor please:
Have a dance and talk to people and stuff. There’s people here that might not want to be in your snaps, and videos always turn out rubbish anyway. Some of the best parties we’ve been to have this guideline and it really works. Trust us and try it out
* Don’t be a pain:
Our venue is great and the staff are brilliant. If you do illegal things you are risking their licence and jobs – so if we see you taking drugs or being an arse to other people we will ask you to leave.
